Wouldn't say i'm in serious need, but have only got 6 weeks to accrue enough TP to make it and it would be a shame not to! I had a look at CX and it's certainly an option if I want to get to BA Silver. Not sure how long Eva would take to process a refund through, will have a think over the next couple of days.
Shame EVA have priced themselves way out here, was willing to pay about $2500 but $4,000+ for the upgrade is HUGE (As you said). As mentioned earlier, I rarely travel Trans-Pacific, so added my Miles onto Thai Airways and don't have many of those miles to use to be able to upgrade anyway. Most of my milage is over on OneWorld.
