QF excel of all the airlines on mobility assistance.

Unlike other airlines, QF will specifically let you tell them what assistance is needed. He will need to find the QF desk at JNB but after that if he is elderly and seeing impaired they will likely help him through immigrations and customs processes, take him to the gate and then the plane. He will be at SYD and assistance provided and taken to his new waiting area and the same before departure and after arrival in AKL.
I am sure the crew can assist filling out immigration forms but he will have to sign them.
Ideally have someone drop him off at JNB and pick him up at AKL, but all of the staff he will encounter will be helpful and delightful. I have witnessed it many times with family and they truly are exceptional.
