This happened to a co-worker and I flying FRA - > SFO one time. We booked together so we could finish doing work on a presentation that was due when we landed. FA asked us to move pre-boarding and we both declined. Boarding agent pointed us out to the family as the two who refused to move our seats, so the family came over to try and make their case. It was awful. After continuing to refuse to move our seats I had to ask them to stop bothering us.
The absolutely worst part is as we were boarding, the boarding agent told us that one of us "was about to be upgraded," but he refused to upgrade us because we were "rude." We nearly lost our minds. Emailed 1kvoice about it and each received $600 certificates + 10k miles, but still to this day I feel rage for how the gate agent treated us. That said I've never received halfway decent service in Frankfurt.
I've been asked multiple times to move my seat. If at the gate, I calmly ask what seat they propose to place me in. If (as is almost always the case) it is to a less desirable seat, I say, I don't find that acceptable and that they can move an employee if they really want to arrange seats (the employees usually have the best seats and there's usually many of them on the plane). If they persist, I calmly say, If you move me, you'll be doing it over my objections, you'll need to issue me a new boarding pass, and I'll need to talk to the station manager. I'll also be filing a FAA complaint about the flight and I'll be naming you, personally, in the complaint. If its a similar seat or a better one, then I'm good with that.
If on the plane, if the new seat isn't an equal or better seat, I simply say.to the FA....I have a boarding pass for this seat, If you want to place me in another seat over my objections, you'll need to issue me with a new system generated boarding pass. How many employees are on this flight? Can't you move them instead? Or put me in their seat, and have them trade my old seat with the people you wish to move?

This is where the whole UA asking me to change my seat irritates me. I'm usually flying to or from Houston. There's usually a dozen employees flying on my flights.
