When I requested an upgrade on the "way in advance" itineraries, I am 0/5. These are all on the same flights mostly (287, 152, 18, 227), transcon routes that I use every week or so, so I know the load patterns.
I'm going into this weekend 14/14 clearing, including SJC-BOS-SJC last weekend and this weekend. About half the flights have been full in front going out. All my tickets were booked weeks ahead on heavily discounted fares.
