Barcelona Terminal 2

I have been critical of the service here in the past so it is important to acknowledge when someone goes well beyond the extra mile. The weather in Scotland hasn't been great this week. On Tuesday I was heading to Barcelona from Prestwick which normally has the most usable runway in bad weather being right on the sea (the West of Scotland benefits from the warm waters of the Gulf Stream; although, I couldn't blame you if you didn't know that). Our incoming aircraft was about Turnberry with less then 10 minutes to touch down running about 10 minutes late when due to adverse conditions it circled for around 40 minutes before landing. After it landed the weather got worse and we had a further hour delay due to de-icing etc. As we arrived into Barcelona Terminal 2 at 01.15 am I got a message on my App to say the booking had been cancelled and I should contact the customer service team in the morning. Ours was the only flight delayed so the terminal was empty. I was also quite disoriented by the refurbishment works so it took me until 01.30 to get to the Hire Car area. Every office was closed..................except that there was a light on in the AVIS office. The agent had stayed just for me. Not only was he delightful for doing so he then gave me a choice of upgrades to reflect my President's Club status. Truly wonderful service. And a reminder that no matter what time you think you might be arriving at it is always worthwhile to include your incoming flight details..................
