TKT price does matter for EXP Upgd: Empirical Evidence

So, since the free upg thing started in April, I am like 25/30 for getting moved up front. However, on the 5 where I did NOT get moved, were on 5 tickets I bought several weeks in advance, as opposed to the week before. Those ticket prices were substantially lower than the other tickets that were purchased within 3-5 days of travel.

When I requested an upgrade on the "way in advance" itineraries, I am 0/5. These are all on the same flights mostly (287, 152, 18, 227), transcon routes that I use every week or so, so I know the load patterns.

I know that most of us believed that price did not affect upgd, but this is too consistent and suggests that something is going on. When I called a week before to check on the availability of the upgd, there was plenty of room. Then 2 days before, it tightened, then at the airport it was full.

Boys and girls, its happening I believe.

Thoughts from my fellow slave ship dwellers???
