Am I the only person who actually likes connecting in ATL? I've never had the issues many people report with ATL but I also don't have a choice in the matter unless I switch airlines, which I have zero interest in doing. Flying out of FLL means you connect to ATL unless you want to go to DTW, JFK or SLC, all of which are out of the way to basically anywhere in the country from here and add hours to my travel time unless they are my final destination (and all 3 are, routinely).
I think I had one trip back home from LAS last year where I connected in DTW on that midnight departure rather than ATL because I needed to change my flight last minute and that was the only available option. It added 3 hours to my typical LAS-FLL travel time. I know that is likely a unique to me problem living in the farthest corner of the country from anything, but it is ATL or bust for me. Luckily I don't mind it.
Now flying internationally is a different story all together. I avoid ATL like the plague connecting internationally. I will either fly out of MIA so I can fly direct TATL or connect in either Detroit or New York.
