Yes, they will do that too, but not relevant in this case, nor to the concept that they will keep trying to get you on a flight regardless of mechanical, weather, etc., etc. The point was that they never "give up", so if you give up on them, they don't owe you for your choice to spend elsewhere.

You may get something from a "customer goodwill" standpoint, but not by policy.
