As of 01/12/2018, the Marriott hotel search website returned 5220 hotels as part of its brands around the world.

As with last year, note that none of the SPG properties are included in any searches.

Marriott in the USA and ROW (rest of world) (2018):
The website returned 4112 Marriott properties in the United States at the time I searched - 79% of all Marriott properties worldwide. This is summarized by state (and district) totals with percentages relative to both the USA totals as well as the ROW totals:

In comparison, the website identified 1211 non-USA properties for the ROW. If you're again keeping mental totals, 4112 + 1211 = 5323 > 5220. In the data I show below, the ROW numbers total to 1173 instead - so there's a bunch of double booking but that puts us closer (4112 + 1173 = 5285) to the returned total of 5220.

Code:
region # %
----------------------+-------+----
Africa 108 9%
Asia 315	26%
Australia+PacIslands 66 5%
Canada 154	13%
Carribean 39 3%
Central America 21 2%
Europe 374	31%
Mexico 46 4%
Middle East 53 4%
South America 35 3%

Hotel Amenities (2018):

Through I'm assuming self identification, here are the prevalent amenities and hotel features the website allows you to search on, how many properties say that they offer these and percentages relative to the 5220 worldwide total:

Code:
amenity # %
------------------------------+--------+----
Business center 4848 93%
Fitness center 5004 96%
Free breakfast 2522 48%
Free high speed Internet	4517 87%
High-speed Internet 5212	100%
Kitchen/kitchenette 1657 32%
New Lobby 1239 24%
Pet friendly 1723 33%
Plug In Panel 1371 26%
Pool 4501 86%
Restaurant on-site 2929 56%
Room service 1597 31%

Hotel Types and Activities Offered (2018):

A lot more hotels were willing to identify themselves as extended stay than anything else - and given that the numbers below total to 1803 - there's a lot of anything else. That being said, how new does a hotel have to be to be considered a "New Hotel"?

Code:
hotel type #
----------------------+-----
Convention center 7
Extended stay 1174
New Hotel 334
Resort 223
Timeshare 65
Apparently, lots of family travel is involved, a bunch of spas along with tennis and beaches. Additionally, where are these "casinos"?

Code:
activities #
---------------------+-----
Beach 145
Casino 43
Family travel 762
Full Service Spa	581
Golf 81
Ski/snowboard 14
Tennis 336
Personally, I like golf. But, perhaps that's just me.
