as a parent not long ago i used pacifiers, ipads and children benadryl to avoid this..
However i see countless parents who refuse to do that out of principle - "oh we dont use pacifiers! We dont want kids to watch ipads at early age!" etc etc..
Unfirtunaty some (not many ime) parents are flat out not considerate
