Several things. First of all, UA is just back at it again, several months/years behind DL and AA in terms of innovative product. I'm glad they did this, but I am worried about GPU usage. I get a lot of GPUs from coworkers who travel much more than I do and don't use them. I don't think this will be the immediate end, if at all. Think of all of the the 777-300 that aren't retrofitted, 787-8/9, 777-200, 767-3/4, 757-200... they can't say "Oh, GPUs now go from Economy to Premium Plus... but if the aircraft doesn't have it... you'll just go to Economy Plus!" I think that they will have to delay until all long hauls have been retrofitted, which could take years. On the other hand, we may just be searching to fly on non-retrofitted aircraft if they only allow Y->J on older aircraft.
