Your math is correct. However, my email is very clear that unless you make a change you will get the points plus variable miles option:
"Beginning July 1, 2004, you'll earn Points and Variable Miles (10 HHonors Base points + 1 airline mile per eligible U.S. dollar spent). This is the Earnings Style you'll receive unless you select one of these options*: "
So, make sure you go to the site and select the option you want. Do not assume "Points plus fixed" or whatever your previous selection was will continue.
ADDITION: And yet, when I go to site, Points and Fixed Miles is pre-selected.
