No...just no. It is not that simple. If this were the case, we wouldn’t see BR and CI on the same NA routes.
Current Australia-Taiwan air service agreement slows both BR and CI to serve destinations together because of its expansive amount of capacity and frequencies ageeed upon. BR simply does not wish to start SYD service again or enter MEL as they feel it is not profitable, hence the lack of service. They are running a private company that needs to make money...they aren’t a company like CI that has more than 50% of its ownership under govt control.
