I have done routings like this. You will need IKK to get J on AC YVR-SYD, but may find acceptable (some would say preferable, though they add travel time) other options YVR-Asia-SYD or YVR-Asia-AKL. When we came back through HNL, we could find reasonable avail on legs through Seoul and Tokyo, but had to make lemonade from lemons by adding an overnight in NRT since they didn't jive up nicely. Unlike some other posters above, we couldn't find availability on SYD-AKL at the time, so we paid $ for those tickets (at least 1 way, I can't remember).
