The outside entrance is only able to be used by those with Gold/Platinum status or a business class ticket.

Those without status can pay the $65 at the door which might be worth it after getting off a long flight. If you combine that with an Economy X seat onboard (an extra ~$29 in the first three rows) then you've got yourself Lounge Access, Priority Security, Priority Boarding, and extra legroom.
