I put recently two separate deposits on this card for 2 hotel rooms in Vegas booked for April. I'm wondering if I should call the hotel, have them refund those deposits and put the deposits on a new card, where the bank and card will remain active for my trip in April. The only reason I'm concerned is because: 1) I may cancel the reservations if I find a better rate, post March 15th; 2) Often hotels need you to check in with the card that the deposit was put on (not sure what the policy is at MGM hotels). Problem is, I used a 'one time' special reward code, so I cannot simply cancel and rebook, since the codes are not available anymore.

I may call the hotel to ask about this, but hoping to get some feedback from this community before I do so. I know in the past, if I got a refund for a purchase made on a cancelled card, the store simply issued a store credit or the bank issued the refund to me. In this case, neither option will be available to me! It would be brutal to sit around for some sort of refund check from MGM Resorts...
