Generally the aging process takes a toll on the body, although here are multiple variables though that will mitigate or exacerbate the effects of aging - diet, exercise, genetics etc.. It does not mean that a 25 year is always in better physical and mental condition than a 58 year old, nor that the 25 year old is in the best position to provide appropriate service in routine and emergency situations (and by an large, I think the majority of flights and FA duties are fairly routine). If you cannot effectively do the job then that becomes a deciding factor for continuing, regardless of what age you are.
I agree that age alone should not be the sole determinant. But if an older FA can't physically perform their job, they shouldn't be flying in that capacity. Regardless what the Union thinks.
