Leaving aside the argument that 0.7c is a poor redemption value for 1 point, can one purchase $700 in Amazon.com gift cards and pay for it with 100K Amex membership reward points?

Separately, do you know if Amazon Gift cards have an expiration date and whether they lose value if unused for certain periods?
