My reports have been frozen for a few years, when I apply for Amex I unfreeze Experian for however long I think I'll need, 1-2 days or more depending on what other cards I'll apply for. It takes five minutes to unfreeze for me.

If you apply and the reports are frozen Amex will notify you to lift the freeze. Same as other banks.
