Do you think it'd be OK if I were on an aisle seat in the middle column, say on a 3-4-3 wide body? Do you think the policy would vary significantly from airline to airline? I was thinking of using one of these box frame things on a one-stop Qatar airways flight with flights of length 14h then 8h.
indeed, I have never seen one in the wild either. i am actually quite small so the suitability would not be a concern. I wonder, I would think that if the user is quite small, perhaps the use of the device wouldn't affect an adjacent passenger any more than someone quite large or overweight sitting next to them. what do you think? maybe it depends where they are sitting
If you were sitting next to a window, then it's less of a problem. If you were elsewhere, then more so. If you had a person of size sitting next to you, they can just get out the way whereas with this product, you'd have wake the person up, they would need to disentangle themselves from it, and then wait for you to return before getting back into it. I also wonder if you were in an aisle position how easy it would be for the flight attendants to pass over drinks and food to anyone stuck next you? You're also taking up "air space", for want of a better term, that would have been open. If someone was claustrophobic next you, this product blocks out the visual line of sight of the aisle which could make them feel worse.
