On more than one occasion that was actually enforced (I had a visa so no problem).

I think you are unlikely to encounter this between the US and Europe, but it would make sense to at least research it and make sure you're not outsmarting yourself.
Thanks! I'm actually lucky enough to hold a dual citizenship with Sweden thanks to my Swedish mother so I can stay there as long as I'd like, but I usually travel with my US passport, not sure if that may make a difference since I enter with my US one.
