Question Is it against the rules to buy a round-trip ticket originating in another country?

Would it be against the rules to buy Round-trip tickets originating in Sweden instead of from the US in order to get a cheaper fare in PE? It's half the price. I would fly a one-way award ticket to Sweden, and for around 3-4 weeks then fly back with the round-trip. It would be GOT-AMS-DTW-SEA-CDG-GOT instead of SEA-CDG-GOT-AMS-DTW-SEA, I travel back and forth to Sweden a lot and the Organization only pay for Y fares and I don't want to pay out of pocket 4-5 times a year for an upgrade, this way it would be the same cost as economy if it originated here in the US, I have a feeling this may be against the rules. Even if it isn't against the rules it feels kinda shady.

So, is this against the rules? And if it isn't, is this a practice that shouldn't be done nevertheless?
