I had the opposite experience yesterday where I selected 1 bag at oLCI, but then decided to carry it on board afterall so I skipped the desks and headed straight to security. That led to a ping at lounge entry where seemed to be checking if I'd somehow checked it in without the system recording it. Not sure what this actually achieves, but may be handy as my mental faculties decline.
