Otherwise, since you don't want to be stuck with 150k miles after your wait listed upgrades fail to process, then maybe just buy economy. Then at time of check in you can see if they are offering cash upgrades to business class. I think those usually run in the range of $700-$1200 for flights crossing the Atlantic.
