Yeah, the FlyerTalk audience can be very critical, in several senses of the word (both "negative" and "perceptive").
Honestly maybe the official UA policy is doing everyone a favor. If your boss says the only thing you're allowed to say about liquor cuts is to call them "enhancements" and you know it's a lie and you know everyone else knows it's a lie, why would you bother saying anything at all? Just kind of a waste of everyone's time.
Sad, because there is a lot of value in developing customer empathy, but that's what we've got.
