I don't think they will put you in Sheraton. You could book yourself.
The benefit of staying in Male is you can potentially be on the first early morning seaplane out the next day.
I asked them the same question and they said they would be able to get me on the last flight. But IMHO that is too risky as a few months ago I flew in on the same flight while staying at a different resort and it was delayed by a hour from DOH and we missed the last sea plane. Resulted in us waiting around till 11pm for a flight to a neighbouring island then a 30-40 mins boat ride in absolute darkness. Ended up paying $1000 for a night where we only made it into the room at 2am.
Better to stay a night and get the first flight out the next day.
