Buying long-distance bus ticket in Chile?

I'm thinking of going from Santiago to Valparaíso by bus. I've looked at both voyhoy.cl and recorrido.cl, and the give me a bunch of connections, all with Pullman Bus. Is this the only bus company serving that route (I'd be surprised)?
The price seems to be CLP 6,800 one-way. Is there a fixed price, regardless when you book? Is this also the last-minute walk-up cash price? During the week, should one book in advance, or is it not a problem to simply show up at the bus station and buy a ticket?
Voyhoy.cl says it charges "international" credit cards in COP (Colombian Peso), there does not seem to be an option to be charged the currency of the quoted price (i.e. Chilean Peso), so who knows which exchange rate they'll apply in the conversion...
Recorrido.cl says that they only work with Chilean credit cards, and anyone else should pay using Paypal and be charged in USD (again, not too favorable, especially when you don't have a USD Paypal account).
So I went directly to pullman.cl, but stangely there no connection between Santiago and Valparaíso is found ("No existen registros..."). Do they simply have remporal database problems?

Any hints for bus travel and booking in Chile would be welcome. Thanks.
