This is great advice. I tested the waters at DL with a Plat challenge and decided they were not better for me. (And was pretty happy with my choice of carriers on a recent CUN departure where there was pandemonium at the DL counters compared to UA where I walked right up, checked my bag, and headed to the gate.)
That said, I am flying more and more on OALs. Not sure I'll make 1K this year . . . it's not a goal as in years past.
