Statistically you would have to think the value of the Reserve increasing your upgrade priority is pretty low, but who knows.
I'm very inclined to believe you despite my experience. I can't imagine my experience is completely card related. Good news is, that's not why I got it so it wouldn't be hard to divorce from that benefit.
