Keep in mind that unless you are Oneworld Sapphire (i.e. AA Platinum, BA Silver), you have to pay for seat assignments up until online check-in. Yes, even business class. So you might just wait it out and see what's available at T-24, otherwise your "free" (points redemption) flight costs you ~$150/person/direction in seat fees on top of the ~$500 in surcharges on the award flight.
Yea I just noticed that. Luckily I used asiamiles so my fees were $265 and my wife and I covered those with our $300 chase reserve travel credits. I guess we’ll use the remaining to cover part of the seat fees.
This was part of my thought process for possibly booking F as it has no seat selection fees. However as nice as it is 50,000 miles for slightly added comfort is hard to justify.
