In honor of FT Community Director SanDiego1K (well, actually it was just a coincidence), my wife and I paid a quick visit to the SAN Airspace Lounge recently, courtesy of my Amex Plat card. It was a clean, well-lit place that seemed to be one very large room, featuring lots of floor-to-ceiling windows. Friendly staff and a few interesting beer options, not least a huge bottle of local beer that was far more than I could quickly finish. I hadn't realized it beforehand, but the Amex entry also came with a modest credit per visitor...I believe $10 per person, IIRC. Can't recall the food/menu options.

It's situated between the two parts of Terminal 2 (airside), which I guess can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on where your gate is. Regardless, I'd recommend checking it out if you have the Amex card or can otherwise get complimentary access.
