I got told off by an FA for putting my jacket under it, and that was in 4C! I guess that may vary with crew, but I'd rather be sure. Another thing I forgot is that the tray table folding out from the arm rest reduces seat width.

But I'm only 5'8, and so pretty comfortable at the other seats' pitch. If I was 6'4, maybe my priorities would be different!
