T-7 days means that at 167 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds before departure, you, and the agents, have access to the seatmap.

As long as you're within that window, you should be able to select and save, and so should the agents. Ask them directly to book seat X, whatever the seat number is. If they get an error message, ask them to report it.
