Well, the current system is as such:
Everyone can choose their seat for free when travelling on BA:
- Gold/OWE and GGL from time of booking and any seat except bassinet
- Silver/OWS and full fare customers from time of booking from most seats excepting a few designated rows and exit seats
- Bronze/OWR from one week before the flight from most seats excepting a few designated rows and exit seats
- All other passengers from 24 hours before the first flight on each given part (outbound, return, or stopover) of their itinerary
People who want to avail themselves of specific seats before the time when they can them for free can assign most seats at any time against a fee.
