Judging from some people's posts on here, you could be forgiven for thinking that the number one thing wrong with BA First is that it's operated by BA. And there is undoubtedly an element of familiarity breeding contempt.
Having said that, if you compare each individual item in the BA First experience against the offerings of other airlines, you could find many aspects of the BA First experience which some other airline does better. And delivery can be inconsistent, depending on how good your crew are - that is rather down to your luck on the day. But BA operates a lot of first class seats on a lot of routes, and they often seem to be relatively affordable / accessible to ordinary people when compared to the hoops you have to jump through and the effort you have to make to get first class seats on some other airlines without remortgaging your house or selling your first-born. For most of us, BA First is still a very pleasant treat on the rare occasions on which we get to experience it.
I wasn't altogether kidding when I put down as my prediction for 2018 that BA First will be improved, but the number of seats and the number of routes will be correspondingly reduced - and that this will provoke storms of complaint from the type of FTer who thinks that they are always entitled to get more for less.
