Friendly staff, large rooms
Location The property is not located in downtown Belgrade/Old town. It is close to the Slavija square (where the airport bus will drop you). It is about 15-20 mins walk to the old town area or you can hope on one of the trams that runs in front of the hotel. The famous Nikola Tesla museum is about a 5-10 mins walk from the hotel. There is a park, Tasmajdan close by. Around the hotel area there are lots of shops and restaurants. Check In I arrived very late, after midnight, so there was no one checking in. Since everything was prepared, they only had to get some passport details and a credit card for deposit and I was off within 5 mins to my room. I was also given a run down of my benefits as an SPG Elite member. (as others have indicated, as a Plat member, this property treats you very well - one of the best I've gotten even compared to Asian properties) Room I believe I was upgraded (was not informed) but the room was huge (close to a junior suite - though I think it was somewhere in between). There was a sitting area just behind the bed with 2 tv's in front of the bed and in front of the sitting area. There were a good number of programs in different languages available. In front of the sitting area was a long work desk with a welcome letter and small plates of snacks. There is coffee/tea making facilities available. The view of the room was towards some building to the back of the hotel, so it was a mix of the industrial rubbish bin and some rooftop of some of the university building with it's grandeur facade which was ok since you could leave the blinds open as there was no buildings close by for natural light. Noise insulation of the room was good as I did not hear anything from the outside/hallways.The bed was very comfortable with a good number of plugs even close to the bed. Two bottles of water was placed on the bedside tables each night. The internet speed (just one option and complimentary to all) was good and stable for normal activities. The bathroom was rather large, it was long with a nice open walk in shower (no bathtub). Water pressure was ok (though could have been slightly stronger) and temperature control was good. Service There is a lounge in the hotel which you can access using your key card. During the period I was there, the lounge was rather quiet and even during evening snack time, there was only a couple of guests (mainly a group of FA's from Eithad I believe). Evening offerings in the lounge was enough to make a meal out of it. They had some hotel branded red and white wine which although not the best, was drinkable. It looks like throughout the day, guests with access to the lounge can have access to these beverages. Only the harder liquour was available during the evening sessions. The swimming pool and fitness facilities looked good (did not use it). Did try the spa massage service and this was good. As expected it is on the higher side, but the quality of the massage was good.Staff in general were very helpful and friendly. Dining Breakfast is available also in the lounge, but I had mine in the main restaurant. On the first day, the place was very busy (due to a conference ongoing at the hotel) and on the 2nd day, it was very relaxed. The breakfast spread was good with a mix of the normal western breakfast offerings and some Serbian breakfast items. Even though it was packed on the first day, the staff managed to get things done. They do have champagne available. Overall Although more of a classical type of hotel, it is still a solid hotel with good facilities. The location might be an issue for some especially if you are mainly for the touristic activities, but should still be doable. If i am back in the area and with the right price, I will return (or maybe try out the soon to be open Hilton - which is closer to both Slavija square and the old town area - if prices are comparable).
