San Ysidro Ranch Major Damage
The Historic San Ysidro Ranch was saved from last months Thomas Fire due to a huge fire fighting force on the property when 60 plus mile per hour winds threatened drive the fire into the heart of Montecito on December 16. However, today's floods appear to have severely damaged the resort. Local news media here is showing video with a number of the cottages damaged although it is not clear if the resort is a total loss. The property sits adjacent to SanYsidro creek which in a number of locations has overflowed its banks having been clogged with mud and debris from the Thomas Fire. The flooding and damage in Montecito overall is significant but understandably follows the major creeks (hot springs, cold springs, san ysidro, and romero). We are safe, but my old neighborhood looks to have lost at least a half dozen homes.
