I stayed there last night, overall a pretty decent experience.
The location is great if you're a tourist...a little off the craziness of Times Square. I was there on business, so for me it was nice that it was a 20 minute walk from Penn Station.
Check in was friendly and helpful. I was upgraded to a Deluxe View Suite (I think,,,the room number was an 04). High floor. Had it been New Year's Eve, I could have seen the ball drop; of course, the rate wouldn't have been $176 either.
The suite was very nice. Decent size living room, separate king size bedroom, nice spacious bathroom with shower and separate tub.
My only complaints about the room were (1) I could not get the TV to display my laptop screen, the input function just didn't work, on either of the two TV's; wasn't a big deal on this trip, there are some trips where I would have called engineering; and (2) the heat was iffy, either really cold or really hot, but that's not uncommon in a hotel room. Neither of these would be deal breakers and I would gladly stay again.
The food service was another matter. The room service shtick of delivery in plastic containers is fully disclosed on their menu, and has been addressed on here. I wouldn't have ordered dinner like that, but I did order dessert, which was prompt and pretty good. The menu is very limited but if you ask for other things, they seem to have them. I had breakfast in the restaurant...I was told I had a $37 credit there (not $38, who knows why?). Nothing was said about using that with room service. The service at the restaurant was awful. I sat at the bar. The server paid no attention. Coffee wasn't refilled, water wasn't refilled, food was delivered cold and without condiments. The server was yapping with one of the other servers until the manager, I thought having seen me finished and glaring at him, went over to break it up. But after I finally got my check and walked out past the manager, he said nothing to me. They need to step it up in there.
Still, the stay was OK, I would stay there again if the price was right, as it was this time.
