You do not get a carryover merely because you have status. You only get to carry over miles if you exceed the relevant threshold, and at least maintain the same status (so those going up, or staying at the same level, may have a rollover. Those who drop in status cannot qualify for a rollover).
You only get a miles rollover if you qualified for your new status on the basis of level miles. (Those who qualify only by segments can never possibly get a miles rollover - because they haven't even attained the necessary level mileage threshold to qualify for that status).
I suppose you could carry over miles if you qualified by segments - but consequently within the rest of the year passed the threshold for miles qualification, but I am not sure
(i.e. if I had 29 segments and 30K miles, I would qualify for gold with my 30th segment, but then if I made another 15K miles till the end of the year, I might get to carry over 5K miles)
Either way it's all a moot point by now. Nobody is gonna carry over anything but XP starting next year end.
