Did I mention the word “headcount” anywhere? I’ve been flying AA for decades, nearly two as EP. Though there’s one consistent thing with AA, inconsistency, I’ve certainly been there at T-15 for last minute upgrades abd seating as a standby. Or watched as they began to shut things down for departure - and early departures are not uncommon, even when someone originally booked failed to show.
I suspect the D-0 preoccupation AA has is a prevailing reason for this.
Now if I’m in the lounge and the lounge agent assured me the incoming flight hadn’t arfuved or the delayed departure continues, I feel I can rely on Information about delays. But I’m still in the airport, and I’m still aware things can change suddenly - my C-23 departure is on a delay, but the flight suddenly changes to D-34 and it’s crunch time.
I’m sure many infrequent fliers don’t understand these issues yet - but it’s how it is, it how we want it to be. And a mob of us isn’t going to convince Doug Parker or Hector Adler to change a thing like this.
