What exactly are you trying to accomplish at this point?
Majority of the posters of this thread shared their experience & belief that apart from offering you a new flight, AA would not take further responsibility.
AA's answer confirmed that.
At this point, there is nothing else to accomplish.
You have the sympathy of many, have the agreement of a few posters that they would prefer things to work the way you believed them to work.
There is nothing else to be gained. AA will not refund your money/points. AA will not change their operational procedures. Hopefully you have learned how things work for your next experience - whether on AA, DL, UA or most other carriers.
