I had a similar issue on 2016, my international flight was delayed by an hour so I went to the airport at a later time, by the time I had to check my bags the flight was closed (by 5 minutes), the Airport Agent said my flight wasn't showing any delay so I show her my app and the text/email.. but just a minute later the app updated with the original departure time, lucky me the Agent call operations (or something like that) and ask them to change the departure time again (delay the flight on purpose), so the operation agent change the departure time from 8:30PM to 8:40PM (I got another alert from the app) in order to agent to be able to check my bags, after checking my bags, they changed the time back to 8:30PM (on time again).

My advise, never trust on delays unless
1: you are already on the plane
2: you are overseas and the incoming aircraft is already delayed with an arrival time no more than your new departure time.
if “PLT” stands for Platinum status, then no, i dont have that (i dont have status at all with AA). I do have the Aadvantage credit card but that does not make me an expert in the airline industry.

Why should i know to chrck the incoming flight?! You make it sound like that is such an obvious thing to do.

as for the quote you posted from the AA email.... aagain, i never recieved an email from them and i can assure you it did not say that in the App or via sms
