After change of owners the sped up the renovation completing it in 6 months I think. I don't expect service to have improved, the price point means it is not truly luxury however (and as such I expect to only be good for another year), the rooms on the photos look decent, and I am trying it out when I am back home in December.
They do have a decent bar however its opening hours are erratic at best.
Did you get back to the Grand?
We are planning to stay there for several nights in early March, before taking the train to Bergen, to catch the Hurtigruten coastal cruise RT. We have a view of the square.
Should we consider changing to the Continental?
We tend to enjoy staying at the Grand Old Dame hotels in cities where they still exist. And we aren't much for "mod".
In Bergen, we decided to give a try to a new hotel, the Bergen Bors, in the old Stock Exchange building. We have a suite with what seems to be an amazing view of the waterfront areas.
And feedback about this? (We are aware of some of the complaints about their "growing pains", and hope they are approaching maturity :-)
