By all means Aegean will allow people to pay money to upgrade - but if done correctly, it should cost more than simply buying a new ticket outright; and when you start from a Go Light ticket, the same restrictions on cancellations should still apply.
Ok, so we simply agree? The change fee will usually be as expensive as the go light ticket without the taxes (was it 60€?). The taxes are refundable (even though A3 ridiculously charges 20 € for that; pretty sure that's not legal). The benefit for A3 is that they can sell one more ticket instead of a non-show. Besides, there are more reasons to upgrade to flex (like to be eligible for a coupon upgrade). A3 could make the upgrade flex-ticket non-refundable, but denying an upgrade is stupid. Why not take the money?

Regardless of what the customer pays? A3 is a private company based on profits, right? It was possible to change a go light to a flex-ticket in the past...
