In short, T1 can't be rebuilt soon enough.
This. I fly out of SAN quite a bit - going to T2 when your flight is out of T1 is a not recommended. Aside from the fact that you either have a long walk or have to catch a bus between the two terminals (and clear security at each terminal), Southwest flies out of T1 and the security lines at T1 can be a madhouse. Add to that - the Airspace Lounge in T2 is mediocre at best.
