The maximum coverage has been always 51.000 EUR.

However, now the insurance protection seems to have become part of a so-called "business package" for which you can opt in. I made the effort to look up the terms and conditions, and it seems to me that the actual insurance protection offered is almost dangerously low now, something that is hidden in the T&C and something of which people are not being made aware of.
What exactly do you consider as "dangerously low now" ?

Maximum insurance protection is the actual value of the rental car or € 51,000, whichever is lower (of which one would have to bear € 230 oneself in any case), which one can EASILY exceed in an actual accident.
Seems that you're mixing up the CDW (Vollkasko) with the LI (Haftpflicht), the latter was never part of the insurance package. Since CDW covers the damage or loss of the rental car only, it will not be exceeded if one has the maximum coverage in mind when renting a car (that means: Do not rent a S Class Mercedes if you have only a 51.000 EUR coverage).

Not only that, but the T&C are extremely restrictive.
Are they ?
