I just booked an open jaw award on OZ and, thinking ahead, possibly may want to change the outbound to a different carrier later if awards become available. If I wanted to do that, would United be able to split off just the outbound segments for canecllation and miles redposit, leaving the return segments in place? If not, maybe I should rebook now on separate records. It would seem logical that the system books these as two one-way awards, and that is how they were priced in the booking process, as opposed to a unified round trip award. But logic does not always prevail in airline practices, I know.
