Good to hear! That does track with the stated fare rules, which is more generous than the FAA rule. It does seem possible that it was easier for WN's IT to implement an "all flights within 24 hours" process than a "some flights within 24 hours" one.
- For nonrefundable reservations within 24 hours of booking:
- If you call or cancel online at Southwest.com within 24 hours of booking, Southwest will offer you the option of refunding the airfare back to the original form of payment, or retaining the credit to be used toward future travel. If you purchased all or part of the reservation using a Southwest gift card or a Southwest LUV Voucher and cancelled the reservation within 24 hours of booking, contact Customer Relations.
I've not noticed the last part before. I wonder if WN has finally implemented a way for gift cards to be refunded to the "original form of payment?" Or do they want you to call just so the rep can explain that you'll receive travel funds?
