I always use the kiosk for TT flights even if I'm not checking luggage to save the poor lounge person the effort of having to make a PA announcement and then me having to take my passport up to them so they can take it away to be verified.

It's so much easier to simply spend 60 seconds to get a boarding pass from the kiosk and I still don't know why the OLCI process doesn't make it clear that you need your passport verified by a homan before you can board.
You would think that with the camera (to read the details so it can the number, DOB and expiry to use as the NFC password) and NFC on most phones they could get the app to interrogate the passport and submit those details.
