Westin San Francisco Airport
Executive Room (Suite)

We were originally booked in at the Aloft next door but we changed over to the Westin to get the full buffet breakfast offered for SPG Platinums. We booked on SPG Hot Escapes (fully prepaid at $135 USD) at the 5 week mark. I had a bunch of expiring Suite Night Awards so I applied one and it cleared at the 5 day mark into an Executive Suite non smoking. It was not the best use of a SNA but better than letting it expire unused outright.

We took the bus over to the hotel. It was a quick 15 minute ride on a bus that was akso shared with the aLoft next door. The exterior photos were taken the next morning, but the room photos were taken the night of arrival.

It was a pleasant lobby in terms of an airport hotel. Not too busy and still had a sense of ambiance.

There was no line at check in and we were assigned to room #641 . The room was tastfully furnished with two separate living and sleeping areas. The sleeping area was in nice and neutral browns.

Someone (in the mirror) still has a sense of humor after two flights and it being past midnight with an early wake up the next day.

We had a bit of a bad draw with the room assignment; probably thanks to our midnight arrival. We are the green dot in the middle with half the room facing another room without windows. As we discovered, the living space area contained no windows and was a dark enclosed room attired in greys.

Room with a view? Not so much. We didn’t complain thanks to the tight turnaround. We’d save the effort for stays that really matter. At least there were bright light into this bedroom space.

The shower was the typical Westin Rain Shower variety. The bathroom was nicely equipped.

We opted for the included SPG Platinum breakfast benefit. At the Westin SFO, it meant a full buffet breakfast at the Grill and Vine restaurant. It was reasonable and included the usual shooter style Westin fruit smoothies. There was a reasonable selection of full buffet items on grill valued at $29. There was no egg station but scambled eggs were available, which were more than satisfactory.

There was a hotel pool in a reasonably nice atrium which we did not get the chance to use.

It also seemed like there was a running trial outside of the property (across the roadway) that fronted the water.

We hopped the free shuttle back to the airport after breakfast.

All in all, a reasonable night’s stay for a short layover. It was reasonably priced and at the rate we paid, we couldn’t really go wrong. I don’t think I would stay here as an alternative to staying in San Franciso proper for a longer leisure or business stay, but it was handy and convenient to the airport which was all we needed for the night. The free shuttle helped as well.
